Winter fruits

February 3, 2014

I didn’t find  time to setup the studio for still life pictures since I arrived in Paris but yesterday, when looking at fruits I kept for a while, I decided that I had to hurry as some of them were really beautiful: two ‘pomme d’Api étoilées’ with their shape of stars and a few bruised pears.

When shooting at the Bosco della Ragnaia two weeks ago, I picked quinces which were on the ground in the campo. I am still searching for the Renaissance paintings’ lights in my pictures of fruits and vegetables.

Two pomegranates and a pear

Autumn is back with its beautiful fruits. I am still searching for the lights of the masters from the past centuries…

Three apples’ high

February 1, 2012

In French, when someone is very short we say that he is “three apples’ high’…

I am still trying to re-create lights like the ones seen on paintings by Italian masters. I was very impessed by the colours of the Cenacolo Vinciano (The last supper) by Leonardo that I have seen a few weeks ago in Milan, especially the blue. I know that I will never be able to approach this quality of colour, but I like to look for it.
